Community Partners in Early Childhood Education

The ARC of Butler is an organization of parents and advocates who are working together to make a difference for thsoe with developmental and/or related siablities. The group holds informational meetings bi-monthly to assist families in learning more about services and activities available in Butler County, along with other related topics of interest.

ECAAP (Early Childhood Association Apprenticeship Program)
The Early Childhood Associate Apprenticeship Program is an innovative certification program that targets individuals working in the childhood care and education field. ECAAP provides workers with quantifiable skills and portable, industry-recognized credentials that meet Kansas’ early care and education industry requirements. The program has been an important talent-development strategy and a critical post-secondary education and training alternative within the state’s workforce system. Child Care Aware of Kansas 
Child Care Aware of Kansas serves as a network of Child Care Resource and Referral (R&R) Agencies serving all 105 counties of Kansas. Sixteen member agencies comprise Child Care Aware of Kansas and provide the R&R services to the counties in their service delivery areas.

Children's Mercy Family Health Partners
Children’s Mercy Family Health Partners (“CMFHP”) is a not-for-profit safety-net health plan owned by Children's Mercy Hospitals and Clinics, a not-for-profit free-standing pediatric health system based in Kansas City. CMFHP provides low-cost or no-cost health insurance to children and families through Kansas HealthWave. They are dedicated to serving low-income families and other vulnerable populations, the providers who care for them, and advocates who assist them. They are committed to investment in the communities they serve and improving the quality, access and efficiency of health care within those communities.

Connecting PointSegwick County-based Connecting Point provides information and referrals for young children, answers questions and shares schedules for monthly developmental screening clinics.

Rainbows United, Inc.
Rainbows United is the region's leading center for early childhood education and care, featuring the latest practices in Pre-K learning for children of all abilities, and the most advanced therapies of children with developmental delays and disabilities. Rainbows United is a family-friendly organization, tailoring services to support the health and unique needs of each child.

In an effort to create a more sensitive and child-friendly enviornemnt, a group of Butler County citizens who work every day in the trenches of abuse have formed the Sunlight Children's Advocacy & Rights Foundation or SCARF.

 

Library Partners

 

If you haven't been to the new Andover Public Library, you are missing out! Located at 1511 E. Central, the library is beside Andover's wonderful park. The children's section of the library is toward the back of the corner, where you can look out and watch birds eating at the feeders. The library has allowed Smart Start to utilize their training room for free; they are wonderful partners!

Augusta Public Library is located at 1609 State Street in Augusta. The children's department is located on the lower level. Augusta Library staff have been great partners with Smart Start on activities, most recently our Butler Dads group worked with Augusta Library staff to hold the first Our Time: Dad and Me event in Augusta.

Bradford Memorial Library is located at 611 S. Washington in El Dorado. The children’s department is located on the lower level. Various story times are available. Bradford Memorial Library is one of the partners of the Butler County Child and Family Development Task Force and monthly meetings of the group are held in the library's Clymer Room. We have also held the Butler Dads event at the library.
